Our team
Meet our team, the key people who make things happen across all three locations and manage the central business functions:
Roger Davies - Managing Director
As our Managing Director, Roger has played a role with the other WGD Directors leading the company for the past 20 years. In this time they have overseen the business develop from a single site ERF dealership to what we have today, a multi-site MAN dealer that covers South Wales. Roger is quick to acknowledge that none of this would be possible without the support of his wife Debbie.
He joined in 1986 after completing a four-year apprenticeship outside of the business and worked his way through the ranks before taking on the role he has today. Asked what he enjoys most, he told us “The best thing is the opportunity to work with really great people, and by that I mean both our staff and our customers, every day.”
Away from work Roger enjoys socialising and travelling, with skiing, motor cycling and sailing holidays at the top of that list, as well as the occasional cold water swimming at the beach not far from home.
Debbie Davies - Director
Debbie joined the family business 26 years ago to support Roger and the family. Today she works full time in the accounts department, dealing with the purchase ledger. She tells us, “The most important part of my job is to support Roger and of course Rachel with their work commitments, as a family we all give 100%. Most people who know me will know I love looking after everyone both inside and outside work.”
When she is not in the office at Swansea she spends her time walking Ollie, the dog, and looking after her mother, then if time allows, she will hit the gym as well. She also enjoys socialising “Roger and I love having a house full of guests including family, friends and visitors from work. Longer term, I would like to split my time between WG Davies and the volunteering job I used to do at the hospice or a similar environment.”
Amanda White - Finance Director
Amanda is responsible for managing the accounts team, which is a family within the WG Davies family. Key responsibilities include daily control of the cash flow, payroll and preparing the management accounts, which give an insight into the financial performance of the business, as well as preparing any budgets or forecasts that are needed.
Alongside all that, one of the critical areas for Amanda over the past few years has been the work she has done with Roger to secure funding for the development and investment at every WG Davies site, as well as budgeting for the new DMS, all of which helps to future proof the business.
Amanda lives just 10 minutes from the Swansea depot and outside of work, time with her family is a high priority. “I have been married to Steve for 30 years, we have two children and two grandchildren who we adore spending time with”.
Andrew Dyer - Group Operations Manager
Andrew’s position is a relatively new one, with broad responsibilities. “My role is to support the depot managers, providing them with data and insights that can better inform their decisions. Overall, I am looking at what we can do better in terms of structure, processes and procedures. Ultimately, we work as a team to understand how the business can be more efficient and thereby deliver greater customer satisfaction”.
Andrew has been with WG Davies since he left school at 16. He completed his apprenticeship and continued in the workshop for seven years. Since moving to a management position he completed the MAN Business Diploma. “I never thought I would be office based but I have taken every opportunity offered to me and never looked back - Roger is good at looking after his people.”
Andrew is married to Hayley, who also works for WG Davies and they live in Pontardawe with their two children. “Family is really important to us and we try to spend as much time together as we can. Occasionally I play a little golf but that is more for the social side than to work on my handicap.”
Daniel Jones - Depot Manager Swansea
Daniel is responsible for all day-to-day operations at the Swansea depot, which includes meeting financial and operational KPIs, while also delivering truly excellent customer service levels. In addition, he must ensure compliance with all industry regulations, as well as health and safety requirements. Daniel manages approximately 35 people including the workshop team, administrative and parts staff, to include performance reviews, training and the progress of apprentices. In a nutshell, Daniel says “My objective is to provide the very best customer service, whilst ensuring staff feel this is a happy and supportive workplace.”
Daniel has been with WG Davies since he left school in 2007, starting as an apprentice auto electrician with responsibility for diagnostics at Swansea, Llanelli and Tenby. He traded his multimeter for a management role in December 2021 and has progressed through the ranks.
Away from work he lives in Gorslas, a small village in Carmarthenshire, with his wife Lauren and six-year-old daughter Emilia. They are looking forward to welcoming a baby boy into the family in July. Retired from playing rugby, he does still enjoy following his local team. His competitive outlet these days is golf and since his daughter has started playing with him, he is loving it even more.
Dean Lawler – Depot Manager Cardiff
As Depot Manager for Cardiff, Dean is responsible for all operational aspects of the depot, including the workshop, service administration and parts. He is dedicated to delivering high levels of customer satisfaction while ensuring his team is fully supported - making sure each member is productive, well-utilised and equipped with the right tools and training to succeed.
Dean has been an integral part of WG Davies for nearly a decade. He initially joined the company to manage the R&M contract and handle warranty claims but his drive and capabilities quickly earned him a promotion to Office Manager. Stepping into the role of Depot Manager was always aspiration for Dean and we’re excited to see him continue to grow and succeed in this well-deserved position.
Outside of work, Dean fully embraces family life. He lives with his wife Laura, their children and foster child. Rugby is a big part of family life for Dean, both coaching a local team and supporting his eldest son. Together, they all enjoy exploring the natural beauty of Wales and making the most of its many outdoor adventures.
Sarah Spolton - Depot Manager Tenby
Sarah is the Depot Manager at Tenby, having started at WG Davies almost 20 years ago as an Apprentice Technician. She worked her way up through the business to Depot Manager and continued her professional development by completing MAN’s Applied Business Diploma in 2020. The move from the workshop to the office was not one she initially chose but it was the best option after the birth of her first child and it proved to be an instant success. In her current role she manages a team of four techs, plus one apprentice and a parts manager. Together the team offers specialist services to Pet Reg operators alongside those in general haulage.
Sarah is married to Zac and they live with their two boys in Haverfordwest, so when she is not in Tenby she will most likely be indulging one of the boys love of football or rugby, and if she is not with them, she likes to be at the gym. She also loves her motorsport and took a trip to the Isle of Man to watch the TT, a real highlight a little while back.
Hayley Dyer – People, Quality and HSE Manager
Hayley is responsible for all HR-related matters and plays a key role in maintain the highest standards of safety and compliance across all WG Davies depots. She explained, “It’s a role that keeps evolving as I work to support - and where possible – free up time for our depot managers. That includes everything from recruitment and apprentice wellbeing, to regular reviews, identifying training needs and delivering those. I also manage all aspects of health and safety and quality, including audits and assessments, to ensure we exceed the standards required to maintain our Quality Management System and the QMS 90001 kite mark.”
Hayley first joined WG Davies in 2016 as a Purchase Ledger Clerk before moving into the education sector. “I really enjoyed working in education but I missed WG Davies and the team,” she shared. “So when I heard about the new opportunity, I didn’t hesitate to express my interest.”
Outside of work, Hayley and her husband, Andrew Dyer, focus on spending quality time with their family. Hayley also enjoys going to the gym, taking their new puppy for dog walks and catching up with friends.
Malcolm Jones - Non-Executive Director
Malcolm has been a valued member of WG Davies for over three decades. In preparation for retirement, he transitioned from his role as Operations Director to Non-Executive Director in June 2025. While he will no longer be involved in the day-to-day management of the depots, he will continue to play a key strategic role, offering guidance and contributing to the company's performance and long-term objectives.
He started in the industry as an apprentice auto electrical/fuel injection technician, then moved on to sales and thereafter sales director and dealer principal. He has been associated with WG Davies for over 30 years, dating back to when he sold ERF trucks from his office Swansea, at that time WG Davies was his service dealer.
Malcolm’s son Daniel and daughter Kirsty both work for WG Davies, leaving only his wife, Ruby out of the business.
Away from work Mal and his wife thoroughly enjoy their long-haul holidays to different parts of the world. He told us, “We have always lived in God’s country, West Wales, and would not contemplate moving anywhere else, especially with our whole family living close by.”
