Continuing our extensive staff development programme, three additional members of the W. G. Davies management team have recently graduated with Diplomas in Applied Business.

Martin Smith (our Llanelli service manager), Sarah Diamond (Tenby service manager) and Tom Carroll (our workshop controller Cardiff), all seen here (left to right). Working hard in their workshop environments, then working late into their evenings studying for almost 18 months on their Business Diploma Course.

Focusing on four individual business modules: Marketing, Finance, People Management and Operational Activities, this quality transport orientated course involves a great deal of independent study, along with regular tutorials.

Co-ordinated in conjunction with MAN Truck & Bus UK, candidates work with experienced mentors to grow their individual strengths and qualifications with MAN’s working philosophies in mind. The nationwide course has helped to develop training programmes for dozens of MAN franchised staff throughout the UK.

Talking about three new graduates, Malcolm Jones, W. G. Davies; Operations Director said, “This industry is changing at an alarming rate and we need young managers like these to ‘step up’ and develop their skills to keep our business operating efficiently and effectively. Developing our staff is vital to our on-going business model. The Applied Business Diploma course has already proven to be a great success, with both graduates blossoming in their respective roles - far beyond our expectations. Their diplomas will assist in developing their management skills even further.”

Our heartfelt congratulations to Sarah, Martin and Tom, good luck on your individual employment journeys ahead.
